THE BAUHAUS CODE. A REVOLUTION IN EVERYDAY LIFE
100 Years of the Bauhaus in Dessau: What remains of the revolution in everyday life? To mark the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus in Dessau, we look back at an idea that viewed design not merely as aesthetics, but as a social stance. The move to Dessau began in 1925, followed in 1926 by the opening of the iconic Bauhaus building. The starting point for a global movement. But what answers does the Bauhaus legacy provide to the questions of our time? In our documentary “The Bauhaus Code – Revolution of Everyday Life”, we get to the heart of the myth. We trace the global movement from Weimar, Dessau and Berlin to New York, Chicago and Tel Aviv. The film features fascinating figures such as Conrad Feininger, the grandson of Lyonel Feininger, and Dr Barbara Steiner, director of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation.
Just in time for the anniversary, the film invites us to reflect on modern functionality, sustainability and the question: how do we want to live tomorrow?
