MDR Summer of Music

The MDR Musiksommer – also known as Summer of Music – is the largest music festival in Central Germany, offering a diverse program that spans classical music, singer-songwriters, world music, and jazz. This film follows singers and musicians as they prepare for their concerts and performances.

At the heart of the festival are the renowned MDR ensembles: the MDR Symphony Orchestra and the MDR Radio Choir. The program combines world-famous pieces like Carmen and The Flight of the Bumblebee with special highlights featuring prominent guests and TV personalities, adding a unique touch to the festival.

A key attraction of the festival is its extraordinary venues: the MDR Symphony Orchestra performs in the RosenArena in Sangerhausen, while Stefanie Heinzmann delivers her performance in the atmospheric setting of a sparkling wine cellar in Freyburg.

Children are also well-catered for: the MDR Children’s Choir offers a wide-ranging program for the whole family, ensuring entertainment and musical enjoyment for all ages.

The MDR Summer Music Festival invites audiences on a musical journey, featuring talented artists, a varied program, and enchanting venues that promise an unforgettable experience.
