WILLIAM. LOVE & DUTY

William is a prince in the decisive years of his life: he will be King. He has known this since childhood. His life is privileged, yet the weight of expectation on his shoulders is immense. He is not only expected to hold his family together, but one day to lead a centuries‑old institution into the future. Unlike his brother Harry, he cannot simply step away from the job.

This documentary series portrays Prince William not only as heir to the throne, but as a man caught between duty and family, against the backdrop of upheaval within the House of Windsor and profound political and social change in the United Kingdom. At its centre is someone who had to learn very early on simply to function: his parents’ bitter divorce, the traumatic death of his mother, and the permanent state of media emergency that surrounded him. Today, William navigates between his role as husband and father, his responsibilities to the Crown, and a monarchy in transition. Yet personal conflicts and private crises continue to catch up with him – raising the question of how much autonomy is possible for a life lived permanently in the royal spotlight.

Expert observers – including royal commentators Leontine von Schmettow and Tessa Dunlop, former royal correspondent Wesley Kerr and historian Ed Owens – offer fresh perspectives on a prince who learned early to project composure and accept responsibility, while quietly longing for something close to an ordinary, almost middle‑class life.
