Der Fall
YouTube

A fake doctor anesthetizes people, an environmental activist spends 529 days in custody, a mother has to see pictures of her murdered child online, a top athlete suffers years of abuse at the hands of her coach, a student shocks herself with life-threatening electric shocks for a supposed medical study – all of this is DER FALL (THE CASE). Since its creation, the format has already collected over 24 million clicks on YouTube.

In contrast to lurid true crime, which often targets sensationalism, DER FALL presents a unique social crime format aimed at young women. A team of hosts specialized in psychology, criminology, medicine and law present journalistic-investigative stories from courtrooms and crime scenes.

The topics are always highly relevant to society. Each case is embedded in a socio-political meta-level. What circumstances favored, encouraged or even made a crime possible? The format offers insight into the search for perpetrators and their motives by having the hosts talk to protagonists from the target group. The aim is to present psychologically complex stories with a high level of identification without victimizing the audience.

DER FALL links complex criminal acts with social implications and enables young women to take a differentiated look at relevant topics. These cases can be finalized, in the middle of trial or even completely current. DER FALL asks about our social realities: Why is there a continuing perceived complicity in a criminal act? Why do the victims so often have to give way and not the perpetrators?

Relevant crime stories from young women’s perspectives and for young women – every other week on funk/YouTube and in the media library.
