South Africa, Botswana, Namibia – This five-part documentation series by the two authors Wilma Pradetto and Eberhard Rühle is a road movie.
On the road for 80 days in Southern Africa. The trip takes the viewer through rapidly developing cities and fascinating landscapes of raw nature, along untamed coasts and craggy mountain ranges, through inhospitable deserts and verdant river valleys. On the road, the two authors and their camera team frequently encounter interesting and very likeable people whose everyday life reflect the reality of people living in contemporary Southern Africa. They show that Africa is not just a continent with a rising crime rate, a high incidence of AIDS and poverty. South Africa, for example, has the most powerful economy of the continent, in Botswana the government promotes development of the infrastructure, education and health care with the proceeds of the diamond production and Namibia is the first country in the world that has the conservation of nature embedded in its constitution.
