In den USA arbeitet die junge Physikerin Joan Hinton an einem Geheimprojekt in Los Alamos, wo sie zusammen mit Fermi und Oppenheimer die erste Atombombe entwickelt. Sie ist fasziniert von der Forschung und Fortschritt der Wissenschaft. Als die USA die Bomben jedoch tats\u00e4chlich in Hiroshima und Nagasaki einsetzen und deshalb tausende Menschen ihr Leben verlieren, ist sie am Boden zerst\u00f6rt.<\/p>\n

Hedwig H\u00f6ss ist gl\u00fchende Nationalsozialistin, stolze Mutter und Ehefrau von Rudolf, der gerade Kommandant des Konzentrationslagers Auschwitz geworden ist. \u00a0F\u00fcr ihre Kinder will sie ein Paradies neben der wahren H\u00f6lle errichten.<\/p>\n

Gleichzeitig k\u00e4mpft Golda Meir darum, eine neue Heimat f\u00fcr alle Juden, die vor dem Naziregime fliehen\u2013 im von den Briten regierten Pal\u00e4stina zu schaffen. Ihr Traum: Ein unabh\u00e4ngiger Staat, eine neue Heimat f\u00fcr Juden aus der ganzen Welt.<\/p>\n

Nikita Chruschtschow hingegen erlebt Stalins Terrorregime. Zwischen Familie und Macht hin- und hergerissen, muss er sich entscheiden, wem seine Loyalit\u00e4t gilt.<\/p>\n

W\u00e4hrenddessen meldet sich der junge Frantz Fanon aus Martinique zum Kriegsdienst und erlebt das Weltkriegsende als Schwarzer Soldat in Europa.<\/p>\n

Zwischen Liebe und Verzweiflung, Hoffnung und Angst, Macht und Verrat k\u00e4mpfen unsere sechs sehr unterschiedlichen Protagonist:innen um die Verwirklichung ihrer Tr\u00e4ume. Ihre Entscheidungen haben unsere Welt f\u00fcr immer ver\u00e4ndert. Indem wir ihre Schicksale miteinander verkn\u00fcpfen, lassen wir die Weltgeschichte lebendig werden. Zum ersten Mal erz\u00e4hlen wir den Zweiten Weltkrieg, den Beginn des Kalten Krieges und der Entkolonialisierung aus einer internationalen Perspektive und gleichzeitig auf eine radikal subjektive Weise.<\/p>\n

In jeder Episode steht ein:e Protagonist:in im Mittelpunkt, und zugleich sind die Geschichten in einer horizontalen Erz\u00e4hlweise miteinander verwoben. Auf diese Weise verfolgen wir die Entwicklung aller \u00fcber mehrere Episoden hinweg und betten ihre Biografien in den gr\u00f6\u00dferen Kontext der Weltgeschichte ein. \u00a0Die Leben unserer Protagonisten sind als fiktionale Geschichten gedreht und mit originalem Archivmaterial aus der damaligen Zeit verwoben.
