In den 1970er Jahren f\u00fchrten die \u201eChicago Boys\u201c mit Unterst\u00fctzung der Pinochet-Diktatur eine neo-liberale Wirtschaftsordnung ein, der Theorie und den Lehren von Milton Friedman folgend. Heute, f\u00fcnfzig Jahre sp\u00e4ter, ist das System implodiert.<\/p>\n

Eine geringf\u00fcgige Erh\u00f6hung der U-Bahn-Tarife l\u00f6ste eine soziale Revolte aus: die chilenischen Proteste von 2019-2022, die sich gegen ein Wirtschaftssystem richten, das einigen wenigen zu Reichtum verholfen hat, w\u00e4hrend die Mehrheit kaum \u00fcber die Runden kommt. Inmitten der gr\u00f6\u00dften Demonstrationen in der chilenischen Geschichte wird die M\u00f6glichkeit einer Verfassungs\u00e4nderung ins Spiel gebracht. Doch das System wehrt sich, und die Polizei reagiert mit Gewalt.<\/p>\n

Ramiro, ein 70-j\u00e4hriger Wirtschaftswissenschaftler und erfolgreicher Gesch\u00e4ftsmann, konnte die Proteste zun\u00e4chst nicht verstehen. Er geh\u00f6rte zu der Gruppe, die das Buch \u201eEl ladrillo\u201c (The Brick, Der Ziegelstein) verfasst hat, in dem der neoliberale Plan dargestellt wird. Langsam beginnt er jedoch, seine Privilegien in Frage zu stellen und sp\u00fcrt, dass eine Ver\u00e4nderung notwendig ist.<\/p>\n

Mariana, eine 50-j\u00e4hrige Mapuche-Nachfahrin und Grundschullehrerin, hat die schrecklichen Folgen dieses Plans am eigenen Leib erfahren. Jetzt demonstriert sie, um Respekt f\u00fcr sich und ihre Gemeinschaft zu fordern. Sie tr\u00e4umt davon, die nach Pinochets Staatsstreich von 1973 eingef\u00fchrte Verfassung zu \u00e4ndern und k\u00fcnftigen Generationen Hoffnung zu geben.<\/p>\n

\u201eBreaking the Brick“ bedeutet, die Verfassung zu erneuern und einen Schlusspunkt unter das Erbe des Pinochet-Regimes und der \u201eChicago Boys“ zu setzen. Es bedeutet, den Einfluss von Milton Friedman in Chile und in der westlichen Welt zu beenden – um die Wiedergeburt eines neuen Paradigmas zu erm\u00f6glichen. Dies ist kein Ph\u00e4nomen, das nur in Chile stattfindet.
