W\u00e4hrend die Deutsche Demokratische Republik mit sportlichen H\u00f6chstleistungen f\u00fcr Furore sorgt, schocken Terroristen der pal\u00e4stinensischen Befreiungsorganisation PLO mit der Ermordung von elf israelischen Sportlern die internationale Gemeinschaft. Doch DDR und PLO verbindet ein gemeinsames Ziel\u2026<\/p>\n

Schon in den 1960er-Jahren hat die DDR mit arabischen L\u00e4ndern und Jassir Arafats PLO B\u00fcndnisse geschlossen. Beide Seiten streben nach Anerkennung in der Welt als eigenst\u00e4ndige Nationen \u2013 wenngleich sie mit unterschiedlichen Mitteln f\u00fcr ihre Ziele k\u00e4mpfen. Auch nach dem Attentat von M\u00fcnchen stellt sich die DDR-F\u00fchrung hinter die Pal\u00e4stinenser.<\/p>\n

Ein Jahr sp\u00e4ter, im August 1973, hat die DDR die Welt zu Gast. Die X. Weltfestspiele der Jugend locken Millionen Besucher nach Ost-Berlin. Als offizieller \u201eStaatsgast\u201c tritt Jassir Arafat auf. An der Seite von DDR-Chef Honecker wird er hofiert und von den Massen gefeiert\u2026<\/p>\n

Anhand von pers\u00f6nlichen Schicksalen und Historikeranalysen geht der Film den Fragen nach, wie und warum es passieren konnte, dass sich die selbsternannte \u201eantifaschistische\u201c DDR daran beteiligte, Organisationen und L\u00e4nder zu unterst\u00fctzen, die an der Ausl\u00f6schung des Staates Israel arbeiteten.
