„Offen gesagt hatte ich keine gro\u00dfe Sympathie f\u00fcr die Deutschen. Die hatten ja den verdammten Krieg angefangen, nicht wir.“ Der US-Presseoffizier Gene Mater steht f\u00fcr viele ehemalige GIs, die am Kriegsende nach Deutschland kamen. F\u00fcr die Amerikaner, die die Deutschen bis dahin nur vom Schlachtfeld und aus der Propaganda kannten, \u00e4nderte sich die Sichtweise im konkreten Zusammenleben. Sie nahmen eine Aufgabe in Angriff, die es so noch nie gegeben hatte, n\u00e4mlich die Bev\u00f6lkerung eines besiegten Landes politisch umzuerziehen, sie wirtschaftlich wieder auf die Beine zu bringen und f\u00fcr ein ganz neues Lebensgef\u00fchl zu gewinnen. Tony Vaccaro und andere Besatzungssoldaten schildern in dieser Dokumentation ihre Erlebnisse in Deutschland. Sie erz\u00e4hlen uns vom deutschen Nachkriegselend, vom Misstrauen zwischen Amerikanern und Deutschen, vom Schwarzmarkt und von der Jagd auf versteckte Nazis. Und sie berichten von gro\u00dfen Gef\u00fchlen. Die Liebe in den Tr\u00fcmmern: In diesen Tagen ist sie nicht Klischee, sondern tausendfache Wirklichkeit. Daran erinnert sich auch Connie Mac Grath, eine Frankfurterin, die heute in San Diego lebt. Es ist eine deutsch-amerikanische Liebe gegen gro\u00dfe Widerst\u00e4nde: Misstrauen von Seiten der Eltern: „man geht nicht mit dem Feind“ – und bei den Army-Vorgesetzten ihres Freundes. „In Deutschland wurde ich erwachsen“, erz\u00e4hlt Tony Vaccaro: „Ich sp\u00fcrte, ich wachse als Mensch. Deshalb blieb ich dort.“ Damals ist er ein junger Infanterist mit dem Berufswunsch Fotograf. Immer hat er seine Leica dabei. Und Deutschland nach der Kapitulation wird f\u00fcr ihn zur bewegenden menschlichen und k\u00fcnstlerischen Herausforderung. Tony Vaccaro wird offizieller Fotograf f\u00fcr das US-Hauptquartier in Frankfurt und dokumentiert in Tausenden von Fotos den Alltag im Ruinendeutschland. „Mein Germany – US-Soldaten im Tr\u00fcmmerland“; ist ein filmisches Erinnerungsalbum, das seinen Bogen von den letzten K\u00e4mpfen bis zur Berliner Luftbr\u00fccke spannt. Der Film f\u00fchrt uns zur\u00fcck in eine Zeit, in der aus den Tr\u00fcmmern unmerklich etwas Neues entstand.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
