Jahrhunderts. .<\/p>\n<p>Hindenburg wirkte zu einer Zeit, in der sich die Ereignisse in Deutschland und in Europa innerhalb von wenigen Jahren \u00fcberschlugen: Kriegsniederlage und Revolution f\u00fchrten das Kaiserreich in eine tiefe Krise, Inflation und Weltwirtschaftskrise st\u00fcrzten die Weimarer Republik in heftige Turbulenzen. Die Welt war aus den Fugen, und Hindenburg bestimmte an entscheidender Stelle die Geschicke Deutschlands mit; in der Obersten Heeresleitung w\u00e4hrend des 1. Weltkrieges, beim Sturz Kaiser Wilhelm II. im November 1918 und im Januar 1933, als er als Reichspr\u00e4sident Adolf Hitler zum Reichskanzler ernannte. Der Film von Christoph Weinert hinterfragt den \u00bbMythos Hindenburg\u00ab und r\u00e4umt auf mit der hartn\u00e4ckig verbreiteten M\u00e4r eines geistig und k\u00f6rperlich verfallenen Greises, der in seinen letzten Lebensjahren unter fremdem Einfluss gestanden habe. Hindenburg traf alle politischen Entscheidungen bis kurz vor seinem Ableben bei klarem Verstand. Selbst die zahlreichen politischen Morde, die im Auftrag seines Reichskanzlers Hitlers ver\u00fcbt wurden, hat Hindenburg ausdr\u00fccklich verteidigt und gut gehei\u00dfen. Der Film portraitiert einen Mann mit einer atemberaubenden wie umstrittenen politischen Karriere, die im Kaiserreich begann, die Weimarer Republik \u00fcberdauerte und in der NS-Diktatur endete. Als Hindenburg im Sommer 1934 an einer unheilbaren Krankheit starb, war er 86 Jahre alt und fast zehn Jahre im Amt des Reichspr\u00e4sidenten.
